Run a marketplace package

This tutorial takes a package from the marketplace on asterobot.net to your bot, and runs it while you watch what it does. It uses the MITM bot from Your first bot: set that one up first if you haven't yet.

1. Pick a package

1. Open the marketplace, https://asterobot.net/files/category/10-library/.
2. Open the page of a package that interests you, and read what it does, what its author says it needs, and who published it.
3. Copy the page's address from your browser.

2. Install it

1. In Asteroboard, open Library Manager and click Download package.
2. Paste the address in File ID or URL, then click Preview.
3. Check the card. Official or Community tells whether asterobot.net marks the file as official, and Will install as gives the name and version the package will have in your library.
4. Click Install.

Package installed appears, and the package gets a row in Library Manager, along with its dependencies if it has any. If a message shows up instead, Install from the marketplace explains it.

3. Give it to your bot

1. Bring your bot online: on its page, click Start waiting, then start Dofus, sign in and enter the game with your character. The status turns to Connected to game server.
2. Open the bot's Settings tab. It opens on Bot configuration.
3. Under Package, pick the package you installed, listed as name@version.
4. Click Save settings. Asteroboard shows Settings saved, and the bot's header now shows the package.

The bot keeps this package from now on, across restarts. Run a package shows the other ways to choose one.

4. Change its settings

1. Still on Settings, click Package settings, next to Bot configuration.
2. The first card belongs to your package, and it's open. Its fields and their descriptions come from the package.
3. Change a value. Not applied appears on the card's title.
4. Click Apply. A notification confirms that the package's settings are applied.

If the section says "This behavior declares no settings and no actions.", the package has nothing to adjust: go on to the next step. Package settings and actions covers every kind of field, and what happens when a value is refused.

5. Play and watch

1. In the bot's header, click Play. It turns into Stop: the package's script is running.
2. Open the Console tab. Lines from the Asterobot and Script sources appear as they're written. To follow the script alone, keep only Script ticked under Sources.
3. Play as usual, or let the package do its job, and follow the console.

Settings you apply while the script runs reach it straight away, without a restart. Whether it acts on them at once depends on how the package is written.

If Play stays greyed out, the bot isn't connected to a game yet. If Couldn't start the behavior appears, or the alert The behavior stopped with an error shows up at the top of the page, see Run a package.

When you quit Dofus, the relayed session ends and the script stops with it, with The behavior stopped with an error. Click Play again the next time you're in the game.

6. Stop

1. Click Stop in the bot's header. The script ends and the bot stays connected: your game carries on as usual.
2. When you're done playing, quit Dofus. The bot goes back to Waiting for your game client. To stop it waiting, click Disconnect.

Next time, click Start waiting, enter the game and click Play: the bot still has the package and its settings.
