Manual sign-in

Manual sign-in works for any stored account and needs nothing installed next to Asterobot. You sign in on Ankama's page in your own browser, then copy one link back into Asteroboard. Use it for an account without a stored password, when automatic sign-in fails, or when Asterobot runs on a machine where no browser can be started.

Open the sign-in dialog

In Account Manager, open the account's menu, the three dots at the end of its row, and click Connect. For an account that's already signed in, the same item reads Reconnect, and signing in again only replaces its sign-in once the new one works.

The dialog also opens from the Add a bot dialog: right after you add an account with the button next to Account, and from the Connect button that appears under that field when the selected account isn't signed in.

When the account has a stored password, the dialog starts with Sign in automatically. The manual way is underneath, after "or sign in yourself".

  1. Click Open Ankama sign-in. Ankama's sign-in page opens in a new tab of your browser, and the dialog switches to a field for the code.
  2. In that tab, sign in with the account, the same way you would in the Ankama Launcher. Answer anything Ankama asks along the way.
  3. Ankama ends on a Congratulations page with a Continue button. Don't click it. Right-click it and copy the link address instead. It starts with zaap://login?code=.
  4. Back in Asteroboard, paste it in Authorization code. The whole link works, and so does the code alone, the part after code=.
  5. Click Submit. It stays greyed out while the field is empty.

Asterobot trades the code for the account's sign-in and checks it with Ankama straight away. When everything works, Asteroboard shows the Login ID followed by is connected, the dialog closes and the account shows Signed in.

If you closed Ankama's tab too early, Reopen the sign-in page opens it again without starting over.

Asterobot doesn't open a port or wait for Ankama to call it back: the link you paste is the only way the code reaches it. That's why this works just as well when Asteroboard runs on a phone or another computer than Asterobot.

When Submit fails

Asteroboard shows Couldn't complete the sign-in - the code may have expired, try again. A code works once, for the sign-in it was created for. Common causes:

  • The link was copied incompletely, or it's the address of the Congratulations page itself rather than the Continue button's link.
  • The code was already used, or it comes from an older tab: each click on Open Ankama sign-in starts a new sign-in, and only its own code matches.
  • Asterobot restarted after you clicked Open Ankama sign-in. A sign-in in progress doesn't survive a restart.

In every case, close the dialog, open it again and start from step 1.

If Open Ankama sign-in itself fails, Asteroboard shows Couldn't start the sign-in. The first time Asterobot prepares an Ankama sign-in after starting, it fetches the current Ankama Launcher version from Ankama, and that step failed. Check the internet connection of the computer Asterobot runs on, then try again.

Store or change the password

The same dialog manages the password used for automatic sign-in.

  1. At the bottom of the dialog, click Store an Ankama password for automatic sign-in. For an account that already has one, it reads Change the stored Ankama password.
  2. Type the password in Ankama password.
  3. Click Save password. Asteroboard shows Password saved, and the account gets the Signs in on its own badge.

Saving a password doesn't sign the account in. Click Sign in automatically, which now appears at the top of the dialog, or sign in manually as above. If saving fails, Asteroboard shows Couldn't save the password.

Asteroboard never shows a stored password again. The text under the field says you can clear it to turn automatic sign-in off, but Save password stays greyed out while the field is empty, so that isn't possible from here. To stop an account from signing in on its own, remove it in Account Manager and add it again without a password. Account status and actions explains what removing does to the bots that use it.

The password is stored in plain text on the computer where Asterobot runs. Add an account explains where.

Enter tokens manually (debug)

The last part of the dialog, Enter tokens manually instead (debug), is for tokens you got some other way. It skips the sign-in entirely.

Field What to enter
Access token The account's access token.
Refresh token Its refresh token.
Expires When the access token expires, as an ISO 8601 date and time, such as 2026-12-31T23:59:59Z.

Save tokens stays greyed out until all three fields are filled. Asterobot stores the tokens as they are, without asking Ankama whether they work, so the account shows Signed in either way. Click Verify in the account's menu afterwards to find out. If Asterobot refuses the values, for example a date it can't read, Asteroboard shows Couldn't complete the sign-in - the code may have expired, try again.

Tokens give access to the Ankama account the same way a password does. Only use tokens you got yourself.
